Day 3

Questions:
What are 5 goals that you have and what are 5 obstacles to those goals.
NOTE:  Before you answer the question, please read an consider:

A Goal is NOT A DREAM.
You need to turn your dreams into action. You need goals to make the visions of your dreams real.
“Dreams can inspire you, but goals can change your life.”
Goals are all about action. Goals turn dreams into reality.
Goals change you and can change your life.

The Differences Between Goals and Dreams

Don’t confuse your dreams with goals.
Dreams occupy your mind. Goals take over your reality.
What will it take to turn your dreams into goals?
Here are 10 Big Differences Between Goals and Dreams:
  1. Goals are something you are acting on. Dreams are something you are just thinking about. Goals require action. Dreams can happen without lifting a finger, even while you are asleep.
  2. Goals have deadlines. Dreams are just, well, dreams. Goals must have a deadline. They have a time limit. Dreams can go on forever. In fact, many people maintain dreams their entire lives without ever reaching them.
  3. Dreams are free. Goals have a cost. While you can daydream for free, goals don’t come without a price. Time, money, effort and sweat. How will you pay for your goals?
  4. Goals produce results. Dreams don’t. Want to change your life? Your job? Your status in life? Goals can do that. A good friend of mine made six-figures on the ebook he published. He did that. Had it stayed as a dream, his life would have been as it always was.
  5. Dreams are imaginary. Goals are based in reality. You may dream of being Superman, but that is probably not going to happen. Goals are about what you can actually accomplish. They are grounded in the reality of our world. Goals should be big, but not supernatural.
  6. Goals have a finish line. Dreams never have to end. Dreams can go on forever. They don’t have to have an ending point. Goals must have a specific outcome.
  7. Dreams can inspire you. Goals can change your life. Dreams can bring you motivation. They can inspire you. But, goals can change your life forever.
  8. Goals must have focus. Dreams don’t. Dreams can be drifting, ever-changing thoughts. Goals must be laser-focused. They must be specific and they must be always on your mind.
  9. Goals require hard work. Dreams just require your imagination. Dreaming is easy. Almost everyone has a dream. But, fewer people have goals. Goals are hard and they require hard work. (See #3)
  10. Dreams stretch your imagination. Goals stretch you. Dreaming leads to bigger dreams. They stretch the limits of your imagination. But, goals stretch you. They increase your skills, your abilities, and change you forever.

  1. The goals that I have set personally are all achievable and are all meant to surpass in the near future. First, I would like to obtain a bachelors and master’s degree in computer science in the next 4-6 years, which will not be an easy task due to the amount of math and technology courses that I’ll have to take. Next, would be to play on the basketball team which is surely possible because I was being recruited but will require lots of time and practice in becoming a productive player. Also, to earn my driver’s license in the next year, which I shouldn’t find as a challenge. Another goal I set for myself is to attend NYU for my master’s program, which will require a great college transcript and well-rounded resume. Finally, have to the opportunity to work at a company in Silicon Valley with some of the top companies in the world, which as you know will include some of the smartest programmers to compete with.

  2. The goals I have achieved for myself are to graduate college, develop an app, become successful, move to California when I leave school and to buy my first car. I want to graduate college with in four years, and I know that task will be very hard depending on my work ethic, but I know its achievable. Second, I want to develop a ground breaking app before I leave college, I must find an app that is innovative but useful, whether informative or just a stress reliever. Living in California, the state of all the tech giants, has always been a dream of mine, it is vital for my own good, I achieve that as well as buying a car, all before I turn 25. I want to become successful, and I know only way I can become that is if I meet all my previous goals.

  3. I believe that I can achieve all of my goals with hard work and determination. One of my goals is to graduate college with great grades all four years. Obstacles that could occur could be really difficult classes, but I will not let that get in my way. Another goal I have is to become a successful interior designer and get a job as soon as I graduate. I plan on building my resume strongly so I can achieve my goal. My third goal is to join some clubs and become really involved with the campus and the other students. The only obstacle would be that I would have to push myself to be more outgoing and not so shy. Another goal I have set is to challenge myself. I never want to settle for anything and I always want to improve myself and get better at things. My fifth goal is to earn enough money by working to finally buy my own car. I know I can achieve all of my goals, and nothing could ever make me give up on them.

  4. My first goal is to learn another language. Learning another language is an incredibly rewarding experience and a serious confidence booster. I would get to overcome some of my fears and doubts, learn more about myself, meet new people, and perhaps travel to places I would’ve never dared to visit before. My second goal is to intern for a big company like Intel, Verizon, Dell and etc. Doing that would help open my eyes and mind towards technology. The third is to finish college with a 3.7 GPA. This goal will motivate me to start strong and finish strong. My forth goal is to overcome my fear of public speaking. Doing this will help share my opinions and ideas about technology to the community. My last goal is to get a job after college that pays at least six figures. I understand that a lot but I’m goanna gain as much experience as I can when I’m away at college.

  5. The goals that I have set for myself are to get my bachelor degree in architecture with then will turn into the second goal to get my masters degree in architecture. After that, my next goal would be to work at an architectural firm at that point. Those three goals can be hard to achieve due to three obstacles. The first, would be that the work is very time consuming and need a lot of attention and focus for it. The second one would be that is spending too much time outside of school work such as going out with friends, rather than doing your work. The last obstacle for these three goals is that finding a job for this major is a little difficult than others. My last two goals are to make the soccer team here at Kean and to continue to practice writing music and rapping. My obstacle for soccer is the time management for it, because I will have a lot of work for my major. I will most likely need to find space to fit in practicing enough soccer to be able to make the team. My obstacle for the music portion is the same thing basically, because there may not be enough time for all of this. If there is time, then they can be achieved.

  6. My first goal is to be on the kean varsity soccer team next spring, there is really no obstacle I just have to try out for the team next spring. Secondly, I want to earn my bachelors and masters in computer science and possibly be a computer engineer, I will really have to work and study really hard to earn those degrees. Thirdly, I want to get my driver license by next year, I just have to learn how to drive before next years. Fourthly, I want to graduate college in four years, the only obstacle is to again study hard enough and take every required course for my major. Lastly, I just want to succeed in life; get a successful job, house, car, and family, all I have to do is just live my life to the fullest.

  7. My first goal is to graduate college with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. Achieving this goal will be difficult because the science and math classes I take will be demanding. I also want to graduate college with a 3.8 GPA. I know this will be a difficult goal to achieve because I will have to find a way to balance my studies, a social life, and learn to minimize stress. Another goal of mine is to find a job at a geological industry. The difficult thing about achieving this goal is that I will need a lot of experience in order to be hired. My fourth goal I have is to get my driver’s license within the next year. The only difficult thing about reaching this goal is finding the time to do this since I’ll be focusing on my studies. My last goal is to become fluent in Italian. As of now I already have a great understanding of the language, but in order to achieve this goal, I will need to find time to practice.

  8. My first goal would be to have a GPA above 3.5 this for my freshman year. My obstacle is staying on top of my school work and being organized. Second I would like to have at least 50 service hours this school year. My obstacle would be doing community service and finishing all my school work first. Next I would like to start an improvisation club at Kean by my junior year. The most difficult part about making a club is getting people interested. For my fourth goal I would like to have an internship in the summer of my sophomore year. My obstacles would be applying and doing interviews. Finally I would like to learn how to speak Spanish by the time I am 22. My obstacle would be learning the language and being consist in using it.

  9. My first goal as a college student is to maintain a good grade point average during the school year. My obstacle would be staying on top of my work and doing it all in a timely manner so I don’t fall behind. In addition I would like to make long lasting friendships and make memories during my time at Kean. But my obstacle is that I can be shy at times. I also would like to join a fraternity. Another one of my goals is to graduate college in four years with a bachelor’s degree. My obstacle would be staying focused and on task. Lastly I would like to be successful with the degree that I graduate with.

  10. My first goal would be to maintain a decent GPA, something that might prevent me from doing this is my laziness. My next objective would be to truly decide on a major. What inhibits me from doing this is my skepticism of each major and finding out which one seems right for me. Furthermore, I would need to raise enough money to buy a car, but I am obstructed by the cost of one. Another goal I have is to graduate from college and begin looking at job opportunities. The obstacle keeping me from doing this is time. Lastly, I want to end up working with computers in some way. There's no real obstacle for that goal, I therefore need to push myself to make it happen.

  11. All I can think about for right now are three. The goals I have set for myself are to graduate college with a bachelors degree, maintain above a 3.5 GPA throughout all four years of college, and have my first career job by 3 months after I graduate. I am pretty sure that graduating college just to get a bachelors will not be easy depending on my major because of all the cerebral courses that I have to take. In order for me to maintain a 3.5 GPA I will have to get all my work done, well and on time. Getting a job in 3 months or less will perhaps be the most difficult goal to accomplish because my resume will have to be amazing meaning that I will have to volunteer in many related career programs just so that I can be most likey chosen to get hired.

  12. My goals are to be a great teacher, to have a kitten, to find a partner to live my life with, to have my own place to live, and to succeed in college. The obstacles for each of these goals would be lack of experience, lack of places to keep a kitten, lack of social abilities, lack of money and job, and last is lack of knowledge. Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you have a nice day.

  13. The goals I want to achieve are to graduate from Kean University. Also become a Mathamatic teacher for a city outside of New Jersey. I want to graduate within four to six years with a master degree in Mathamatic Education. I've been told that the road I choose is going to be brutal and hard but if I stay with my work ethic. I should come out notorious. After receive my degree I would like to purchase a house in PA or DC, but the only way that's going to happen is if I keep my head in my studies. Also to work as hard as possible but without failure there will be no success!
